Solar Irrigation
Solar Irrigation
Renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, are big news right now. Not only do they reduce reliance on finite fossil fuels, but they can also lower fuel bills, reduce pollution, and contribute to a more sustainable way of life. Solar irrigation systems draw energy from the sun’s rays to power a watering system that can keep your plants and lawns irrigated and supplied with what they need for hours.
The system comprises a pump, a battery, and a solar photovoltaic panel that converts sunlight into electricity. This powers the pump, which delivers water through the drippers, as in a traditional irrigation system. You can connect your solar irrigation system to your water butt to use collected rainwater and further reduce environmental impact.
The solar panel connected to your irrigation system will receive the most energy at precisely the time of day when your plants need to be watered the most – when the sun is out, and temperatures are high. You can even set the system to automatically switch on when the sun is at its highest in the sky for optimum convenience and efficiency.
